We are sending out this Race News release, to give all people involved time to set there schedules accordingly.
As owner of the Wausau 525 Race track, the January 25, 26, 2020, is going to be postponed until Jan. 22,23,24, 2021. We certainly don't want to do that, but have a number of positive reasons for the change. We have put on the Wausau 525 Championship Snowmobile Race for 15 years. Really enjoyed that and plan to continue for many years to come.
We are planning on a major change for the track and an effort to complete the many, many projects at the track that need to be finished. The 525 Track is 110' wide x 1850' long. Almost 5 acres of racing surface. All circuits that race there, USSA Snowmobiles and winter Bikes, PVR Vintage, AMA Motorcycles and Quads, WTPA Tractor Pullers, all comment the track is too wide. And we agree. This fall and next spring we will remove 25 percent of the clay and replace it with blackdirt and grass. In conjunction with that, we will also add piping to drain rain water run off during big rain storms. May sound not so difficult, but extremely time consuming and very expensive. Need this project done by late 2020 spring, so we can run our summer program and Jan. and Feb. winter snowmobile races, 2021.
During this time, we can also finish a long list of projects at the track and the 45 acres of property and buildings.
We have an excellent history and reputation of many forms of racing at the 525, and want to continue that and add our goals.
Thank you for being part of the Wausau 525, and Flip's Fund and look forward to seeing you all in 2020 and 2021.
